Stacia Sower and Mike Baron (former MS student) are selecting sea lampreys from the lamprey behavior tank at UNH AFAIR, Anadromous Fish and Aquatic Invertebrate Research, Laboratory for in vivo experiments. Sea lampreys are anadromous which means the adults migrate from the ocean to freshwater streams in late May to spawn. The sea lampreys like Pacific salmon, spawn only once in their lifetime after which they die. This means that all experiments on adult sea lampreys occur once a year in May and June. |
